Astrology is worth as much as you make of it.
Astrology is the science practiced by Astrologers, who according to historical documents mostly had dual roles in medieval times, those of Scholars and Priests. It was considered a privilege to study the "Godlike science" of Astrology during your preparation for the priesthood.
The word Astrology comes from the Greek word ‘Astrologia’, which means ‘star study’, the ancient art and study of the movements of the stars, also the planets and other surrounding celestial bodies, and ultimately the impact that those heavenly entities have on our lives.
It has been noted that different modes of Astrology had been implemented by such priests, or wizards as they were often known, just think about the characters populating the stories of
Harry Potter for instance.
On record it proves that Astrology has been practised for over 5000 years, however from rock paintings we realise it had gone on a lot longer, but not recorded due to the lack of literacy.
In ancient times many families of royal status had their own personal, live-in wizards who also filled the roles of priests, caring for the religious wellbeing of the populace.
The oldest preserved astrological documents in existence, date from 668-626 B.C. and they record astronomical observations and calculations, at that time, of solar and lunar eclipses combined with astrological predictions, some of which have historically been proved to actually have happened later, as predicted.
It was/ is the actual results of these Astrological studies which were implemented to form Horoscopes, the individual charts.
The oldest surviving Horoscopic charting (birth chart) pertaining to an individual is dated April 29, of the year 410 B.C, and was discovered in the region of the old Babylon.
Many accounts reveal that Astrology has always been practiced for the predestination of actions to enhance people’s needs and benefit their daily lives.
According to the persuasions of the early civilized races of the East, the stars were the source and the messengers of everything that happened and what would still happen.
Compelling evidence were recorded that the 3 Wise Men (Magi) who travelled from the East, following a Star to be present at the birth of Jesus of Nazareth, were Astrologer-Priests from ancient Persia.
Such facts are what have cemented the human belief in the truths of the serious Study of Astrology; not the hocus pocus of costume ball women sitting behind a glass ball in a filthy old tent, found at every traveling circus or merry go round fair ground.
Astrology is the calculation of the positions of the planets at a specific moment in time.
For instance, your natal horoscope chart is drawn on the relationship of those bodies to each other, calculated at the exact moment you took your first breath and it is filled with information personal and unique to you alone, which no one else can claim, not even your identical twin, because one of you were born before the other, in measurable time.
You, and only You took ownership of your unique natal chart the moment you took that first breath and it is filled with information, personal and unique to you and you alone.
Through the art of Astrology we can pinpoint and interpret your unique characteristics, potential and strengths, a complex system that encompasses more than merely which sun sign you were born under.
You now understand what Horoscope represents, but what is the origin of the word? The word Horoscope was also derived from Greek, ‘Horoscopos’, which means “Hour watcher”, which relates to the Watcher (astrologer) who noted the times and watched the movements and relationships of celestial bodies to each other, with specific relation to our earth, as our globe spins around our sun, following it through it’s immeasurable journey throughout the Universe, always applicable to a specific time.
Presently the word horoscope is more commonly used to describe the forecast made by modern day ‘wizards’ (often simply fortune tellers in daily newspapers), based on a given chart that had been drafted.
With serious studies, such a horoscope can be erected for a person, a business, a city, or a nation. In fact, a horoscope can be erected for just about anything, not unlike in the practice of ‘Feng Shui’.
Every planet has its own unique characteristics and energy that it projects.
Every one of those planets also has its own influence over the different zodiac signs, and influences your birth chart, as well as your progression chart, as your life develops through growth and change.
Individually, the zodiac signs are also associated with the 4 basic elements of Water, Air, Earth and Fire; they have qualities that are cardinal, mutable and fixed and all relate to each of the twelve houses in your personal horoscope.
Here is a quote from an ancient philosopher, Hindu Prince Gautama Siddharta (563-483 B.C.) who wrote: "Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon and the truth".
If nothing else ever was, That is the truth. Truth will triumph.
Bear that in mind while you read the following.
Do we actually have any free will when you accept that Astrology, the Stars and other celestial entities predetermine each and everything which will eventually happen and then become history? When our charts and our horoscope show so much about our lives, who we would be and then, who we are.
Have no fear, we certainly do.
As Jim Carry once said: “we may not be able to stop a train, but we can certainly get off the tracks when you notice the thing approaching.
While trusting Astrology to guide our lives and actions, most of us should come to a point of understanding, there do exist many things in life over which we have no control, but then, those are our personal boundaries.
We may often push the limit of those boundaries, while still the circumstances do not change, then we have to learn and accept, to live within those boundaries.
When we accept that together with the fact, only ‘The Now’ exists, we will overcome the difficulties of being confined by limitations, that is part of spiritual development which infuse us with growth in maturity, and how we react to them is a direct result of the impact of our emotions.
Those emotions are governed by the moon's placement in our chart.
Like with the train, we may not be able to control the movement of the moon but, we can learn to control the influence of the moon on our lives.
That is very difficult, yet as we mature spiritually it becomes part of our ‘being’.
Our reactions are emotional impulses, and that is, where the control of influence is allowed.
We may control our emotions and address those issues in a disciplined manner, or we allow them to run wild and react with explosive energy.
Therein lies our free will, the right to decide how we will react and conduct ourselves, with decorum or out of control; whether we will perform for the betterment of ourselves and that of others.
Experience, learn and grow, that is our free will.
One of the oldest spiritual truths states: “It is not what HAPPENS to us that predicts our future being, it is how we REACT (controlled or not) to those events, that shapes and give our lives purpose.
Astrology is worth as much as you make of it.
